work is supporting the independent agency channel.

This summer, Rough Notes launched a new column, BrokerTech Spotlight, in conjunction with BrokerTech Ventures (BTV). BTV, through its accelerator, brings broker-centric insurtech startups together with seed-funding, but more importantly direct access to leading brokers, wholesalers, and carriers.

The first installment of the column featured TrustLayer, an insurance verification technology solution that automates certificate management. The next column will look at employee benefits and the value Healthee brings to insurance agents and brokers.

What do Healthee and TrustLayer have in common? Both are startups that have partnered with BrokerTech Ventures. The BrokerTech Spotlight articles on them—and on others going forward—feature practical, real-world insight from other BTV member owners, specifically agents and brokers who are on the front lines every day.

In late October, agents, brokers and other insurance professionals from around the world together will explore some of the latest developments in the insurtech arena and hear from visionaries in insurance, technology, government, business and more. BrokerTech Ventures will lead a half-day event, titled BrokerTech Connect, as a lead-in to InsurtechConnect Las Vegas; Rough Notes is a media sponsor of InsurTechConnect.
